When it comes to small apartments, I mean really small apartments, I think I have turned into some sort of expert. I've been living for seven years now in a small rooftop apartment in the Old Town of Munich - on 32 square meters exactly. Oh, and I should mention that I have one entire side with a pitched roof area - this means more space challenges. I always try to find new ways of creating and recreating my space without over-cluttering it. First and most simple rule is: keep it clean and tidy. A mess and too much clutter in a small apartment in the biggest interior design enemy.
But today I want to share a very simple decorating tip for small apartments. A few days ago I received some beautiful new Kosta Boda glasses in my favorite hues white and blue. They are from the MINE collection and designed by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien and look wonderful as they have irregular shapes and colorings - each glass is a one-of-a-kind piece. I've decided to use them as little vases and pair them with a large glass bottle and place them in front of a mirror - the translucent effect in combination with the mirroring is great as it visually enlarges the space.
If you live in a small apartment try to use more translucent objects made of glass to have a more airy feeling in your home. Even a glass coffee table is great in small apartments as it does not block your free flowing view - even better when you use a cool, patterned carpet. So for all you small-scale dwellers out there: Get your fingers on glass objects and get decorating!

DeleteThe translucent bottles are a great idea! You can find tons of them at antique shops in all kinds of colors. A few bright blue or green bottles in the windows and you can really make your space pop with color.
