Bathroom Pretties

Think of this very special room in our homes. It is one of the first rooms we enter in the morning and it is quite often the last one we spend some time before hopping into bed. I am referring to our very personal spa, the bathroom.

Sometimes we're rushed, very quick and efficient, other times we love to linger and relax in our little refuge. We store a plethora of useful, necessary and beautiful products in it, we light candles, we sip on glasses of red wine. We wash our faces, shave, comb, read a book, take baths.

The bathroom is way beyond a necessary room for our personal hygiene, it is a vital oasis for our physical recovery and mental retreat. So why not putting some emphasis on the interior design and decoration of bathrooms? Here we go with eight inspiring ideas that caught my eye today. What is the most important aspect in a bathroom for you?

  1. Is the top pic from your bathroom? My dream has always been to have a massive bathroom with one part wet room for a shower..not happened yet. Great images, Igor!

  2. No 4 looks pretty cool and fab vanity set pic at the top. I agree whole-heartedly with your bathroom sentiment.

I love a really great incense stick burning (e.g. Fleur Oriental incense from Miller Harris) and a gorgeous cologne to hand. And I have to have good lighting and a big mirror ;-)

  3. 1, 5, 6 and 8 are my favs! I have a bathtub and I have only taken one bath since we moved in here 2 years ago. I have to learn to do more things in life that I enjoy that makes me relax. Instead of stupid tv!

  4. I love this idea of the bathroom tray on the back of the toilet, it's simple, it's a great place to showcase fun items and it can definitely add to the color scheme of the room. Come to think of it - I bet there's a more proper name for "bathroom tray", huh?

  9. Like Mary I love no 2 but wouldn't dream of hanging a canvas in a bathroom. It works beautifully though in that room and the floor reminds me of my beloved Spain. No 5 is also rather lovely, understated and simple. All the best for 2012 Igor xx

  11. I love love love this post! Bathroom is the most serene place for me, where I can be with myself, my thoughts, fears or happiness, so it should be special, to say the least. And I don't mind having all of them from this post, your choice is fabulous! xoxo

  12. I LOVE the tiles in number two but number three has the ideal feeling of calm, cleanliness-meets-cosiness and style that I like in a bathroom. Plus, the his and his sinks are the secret to a long relationship! LOL

  13. What I love about these pictures is that none of them have that clinical "hotel bathroom" feel that so many people opt for. Gorgeous!

  14. Great post Igor. For my own personal taste, I like bathrooms that are a bit clinical, laboratory like. Sure clean, super minimal. Tile, wood, metal, stone, porcelain, glass. Not too much fabric - I avoid curtains and carpets. Only white towels. I know it's a bit weird, but this type of sterile environment makes me happy in a bathroom, lol! Even still, your images have made my eyes happy today ;)
