Home Update: A New Rug Adding Pattern

With every new year I feel invigorated to add a new accent to my home. Many of you know that I am living in a tiny rooftop apartment with 32 square meters. Last weekend my food blogger Sophie friend told me this fun thing: Being an interior design blogger and living on 32 square meters, that must feel like being a food blogger who is constantly on a diet. Fun fact, right?

I thought about it and maybe there is some truth to it - the constant challenge not to clutter the small space (vs. the constant challenge of not eating certain things as a foodie on diet), inventing new things within the given constraints, opting for the light alternatives. Well, speaking of light alternatives: I have replaced my colorful Moroccan Boucherouite vintage rug with a very light, graphic rug by Bloomingville

I have found the cute rug on Tujuh.de and thought it would be a good idea to repeat some given patterns in my home - some black and white strips and graphic patterns. My pendant in the living room, the zigzag rug, the grey and white walls and now - this little rug, too.

What do you think of my new little rug? I really like it in my home.

  2. Oh, I love your new rug and the colour palette in your images up there! And I think besides the fact that you have to be extra creative in your small apartment you were maybe inspired to create a huge space on your blog where you can share everything you want, without any limitations. Who knows if you'd still be an interior blogger if you lived in a mansion and were always busy buying, arranging, rearranging (and cleaning…) everything!

    1. I have never thought of this, Lena, but you got an excellent point!!! A huge mansion would distract me and it would be like a materialized blog. So, I am happy for my tiny apartment and for my blog:-) Thank you!

  4. Hehe, you're on a design diet! Loved that! Maybe that's the reason you're traveling around the world all the time =)

  6. Oh my, I like. Looks great. I am a big fan of pattern and repeating it without it being matchy is beautiful. I am telling you more is not always better. I have 10 times as much space as you and I have the feeling that not one single room is the way I would like it to be. (I will have something to blog about for the next 10 years ;-)) And I like that every picture of your home is different even though it is the same space. Shows that your interior needs to be evolving. Love Kathrin

  18. First off, I love Sophie's humour.... secondly, I've always preferred small to big, you need to be more creative and it's soooo much more cosy than large spaces!

As for the rug, mon ami, I'm afraid I totally LOVED your Moroccan boucharweit and am a little heart broken:-) However, this new colour scheme suits you well!

  19. Do you live in a tiny rooftop apartment? Really? I had no idea! Like you haven't told us 50 million times already ;-) And it is extremely cute.
I don't do rugs in my own place, but your new one is simple and clean. I really like it :-)
Now... the Tray Table. Your Tray Table and mine are totally opposite. Your's is styled to the point of clutter - clutter style ;-) Mine is very minimal. A few magazines all perfectly and neatly placed. Just think it's funny.
But will go now in case I insult you any more. Sure you know I love ya & I'll see you in Stockholm soon.

    1. I think three magazines on your tray table already make for clutter. Luckily we are different otherwise the bloggersphere would be pretty bland - no offense:-) See you soon!
