The Poster Club x Silke Bonde

Sometimes there is this feeling when you see something and you say: match made in heaven! Well here we go with one of those examples, maybe in this case it's a match made in poster heaven. Denmark based The Poster Club has launched two new posters created by the fantastic Copenhagen based artist Silke Bonde.

The two watercolour art prints called 'Cove' and 'Leaf me' are exclusively made for The Poster Club and come in a limited edition of 300 signed prints. So, if you want one of these two beauties you better hurry up and go to The Poster Club and secure yourself one signed art print.

Silke Bonde's work is wonderfully light and airy - her art seems as elusive as a fresh breeze and as invigorating as cold waters. And on top of it all, it just looks amazing. Having said this, my heart goes out to the art print 'Cove'. What about you?

Giveaway: Turning Tray By Finn Juhl

Denmark is one of the most exciting countries when it comes to design. It has one of the richest design legacy with names that not only ring a bell but all bells of all kind of domes. One of the iconic names from Danish design is Finn Juhl, an architect with a vision for elegance and craftsmanship in the mid-century period of the 1940s and 1950s.

Finn Juhl's designs have strongly influenced the country's architects and designers, especially his use of bold sculptural forms and refined detailing. Juhl once said: 'One cannot create happiness with beautiful objects, but can spoil a lot of happiness with bad ones.' The Turning Tray encompasses characteristic design features like curved teak frame and corner joints that are Finn Juhl trademarks and they are dual-sided with different colours. The new trays also come with a laser engraved signature from Finn Juhl.

New Works: Objects Of Copenhagen

What happens when design craft mixes with art and comes to life in a country with a strong design heritage? New works obviously. Or better yet: New Works - Object of Copenhagen. Creative Director of New Works Knut Bendik Humlevik presented a brand new collection of design items at the last Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair featuring some beautiful and sculptural design pieces for contemporary homes.

New Works is a Copenhagen based design brand that unites design craft and art and interprets pieces for the modern home in the context of the rich design heritage of Denmark. They collaborate with different international renown designers and add a new notion to the highly appraised repertoire of Scandinavian design.

The new Bowl Table Lamp designed by Knut Bendik Humlevik himself is one of my favorites. The toned glass bowl surrounds the light bulb and emits a smoky light while sitting on a base of raw copper creating an interesting contrast of materials. Other interesting pieces include the Pi-No-Pi-No vases made of glass and wood as well as the sculptural Kizu Table Lamp combining marble and acrylic, the former designed by Maija Puiskari and Tuukka Tujula, the latter by Lars Tornøe.

Which piece could move in with you? I think my choice would be the Bowl Table Lamp.

Bang & Olufsen's New Love Affair Collection

The Danes know how to do it - be it wooden furniture, interior design or consumer electronics. I just want to reemphasize how much I love my B&O Play H6 headphones - a stylish and high quality Danish product for design lovers. Bang & Olufsen is one of those rocket brands from Denmark - whenever I think of them I see sleek design, high quality and a big desire to own their products in my home. And like many Danish brands, Bang & Olufsen has a lot of tradition and history - to be precise, they are celebrating their 90th anniversary today and therefore they have launched the brand new 'Love Affair Collection'.

The 'Love Affair Collection' is an homage to the vibrant 1920s when Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen founded the company amidst a thriving Art Déco atmosphere full of luxury, joy and partying. You know, the swinging 1920s and so on. For the new collection Bang & Olufsen have collaborated with designer Stine Goya who introduced a warm and lush rose-golden hue in combination with walnut wood to take on the time's atmosphere and style. Furtermore, the rose-golden hue symbolizes love hence the naming: 'Love Affair Collection'.

The new 'Love Affair Collection' comprises six products including an entertainment center with a TV and remote control, an audio system, headphones (crush alarm!) and a cool speaker. More design beauties of this great Danish brand will be revealed on the blog and social media later next week as part of our Design Bloggers Tour in London. Now go find the budget for those beauties! Broste Copenhagen Spring/Summer 2014

It is an open secret that I am a big fan of the Danish home accessories brand Broste Copenhagen. Ever since I attended a magic dinner with the brand in the home of their stylist Nathalie Schwer (remember the blog post HERE), I fell in love with this Nordic brand. Behind this wonderful brand is an even more wonderful team of people whom I deeply respect and admire. But above all I love their designs and products as they perfectly represent my idea of a Nordic touch for the home.

Traditionally, the new spring/summer 2014 collection of Broste Copenhagen brings a bit more colour into the home. And yet another reason to love them - they are focused around my favorite hues being blue and yellow. While I'm typing these words I am actually sitting betwixt (sorry, but I really, really wanted to use this word at least once in my blogging) four Broste Copenhagen cushion and yes, they are all blue and yellow!

But apart from the design, what do I really love about Broste Copenhagen? I love that their home accessories are mostly unpretentious, they are not visually 'loud' or flashy, they have beautiful details and a great touch and feel. Now if you feel you need a Nordic touch in your home, I strongly recommend to have a closer look at the website of Broste Copenhagen and start redecorating your home. New Scandinavian Designs For Milan

As a proud owner of an iconic tray table by Hans Bølling, produced by Danish design company Brdr. Krüger, I was very keen on learning about their latest additions that will be launched at the upcoming Salone design fair in Milan. Actually, this is just hot off the press and has not been published yet! Hot stuff in a double sense - not only new but also damn good looking!

Brdr. Krüger adds two fabulous new designs to their sophisticated portfolio: A modern and cool looking soaped-oak chair called 'Ferdinand Lounge Chair' by Danish based OeO Design Studio and the sphere shaped, playful yet grown-up looking 'Lune Lamp' by Norwegian designer Sverre Uhnger.

Both designs represent perfect additions to the product range of Brdr. Krüger as they are renowned for their passion for wood and respect for woodcraft. Just like the Bølling tray table, these new designs perfectly enrich the portfolio of the Danish design company Brdr. Krüger. 

If you are going to the Salone in Milan, make sure to stop by at the DANISH LIVINGroom, where Brdr. Krüger will be exhibiting these new designs for the very first time.

Highlights From The Stockholm Furniture Fair

The fourth design show in a row since January took me to Stockholm recently. Last week I shared with you some highlight stands seen on the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair and today I want to take you on another stroll through the design fair with me. And promised, this time it is going to be a bit more colorful (though color remains scarce in Scandinavian design).

This time I'd decided to skip the obvious Scandinavian favorites like Muuto, Normann Copenhagen and others since I had seen them on the other fairs earlier this year. I was roaming around in search for new discoveries and inspiration. Here are a few highlight finds:

A2: A2 is a young Swedish furniture brand with a fresh twist on Nordic design. The contemporary collection is comprised of individual objects as well as furniture families and stands out due to visually interesting accents like creative fronts, integrated plant basins and color accents. The young brand is deeply rooted in the Swedish furniture tradition and every single piece is produced in Småland in Sweden. I particularly loved their funky cabinets and furniture pieces with plant basins. 

Northern Lighting: This Norwegian brand offers a wide range of distinct lighting solution for all kind of interiors - from sleek, typical Scandinavian pieces to colorful and more playful designs. They call themselves 'mood makers' and claim to produce designer lamps and lights for different moods which are inspired by the Nordic nature, culture and society.

Fjordfiesta and Røros Tweed: Two further Norwegian brands that caught my eye at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. Fjordfiesta produces furniture in the typical Scandinavian design tradition but spiced up with a certain Norwegian flavor as they call it. I particularly love the Krobo bench, a design from 1960 with practical accessories that will launch in summer 2014. Røros Tweed is a Norwegian home textiles producer with high quality woolen blankets and pillows and they have been around since 1940. I am afraid I fell in love with their Konfetti blanket!

Hanna Dalrot: In the so-called Greenhouse section young design talents and design schools exhibited their creations. One of them was the Swedish designer Hanna Dalrot who caught my attention with fascinating textile designs named 'Textile Landscapes' in monochromatic hues with dashes of blue. I adored her beautiful, hand painted designs that combined the individuality of brush strokes with a repetitive pattern structure. I hope she will launch her products soon!

Noi Doi: Another young brand in the Greenhouse are was the Norwegian label Noi Doi. The two designers Kathrine Lønstad and Cosmin Cioroiu showcased a multifunctional bench called 'Pulse' and a great lighting design named 'On the Edge'. Very Scandinavian, very cool!

Frama: The Danish design label Frama is not unknown but I was curiously inspecting their stand as I noticed many pieces I didn't know. Frama exhibited furniture pieces, lighting, tableware, accessories - all in a wide range of materials such as wood, steel, stoneware, canvas, concrete, glass, marble and cork. Their designs stand out due to their simplicity - they almost seem Japanese. Frama puts it this way: We present a graphical and plain aesthetic approach to appearance. 

Maze: The Swedish design label Maze aims to amaze the beholder's eye with a refined use of natural materials such as wood and leather and a playful twist in form and structure. The brand pays due attention to sustainability and its entire range of furniture and home accessories is produced locally in Sweden. I really liked their side tables.
