Swinging Plant With Tina Frey Designs

Recently I said in a video that I have around 30 plants in my apartment of around 30 square meters - thus one plant per square meter. Admittedly, it gets a bit tricky to find a place for new plants so the only solution I have is to go up high - with hanging planters. In one of the past Urban Jungle Bloggers posts I showed you some of my hanging planters but as of today I the happy owner of a super nice hanging planter made of resin. This swinging beauty is the handmade work of San Francisco based Tina Frey Designs, the place for all happy things made of resin.

My Pothos plant has found a very happy and joyfully swinging home - the new hanging square vessel, hand sculpted by Tina Frey in San Francisco. This hanging planter is part of the new Urban Garden Collection by Tina Frey Designs launching this spring.

I love the simplicity of this planter, its wonderfully smooth resin surface and the handmade shape with slight imperfections. Moreover I think this hanging planter has a cool mid-century modern vibe. If you like it too, how about if I tell you that I have one more hanging planter just like mine to give away?

The hanging planter is perfect for all kind of cascading or vining plants. But it also works for small plants that can swing up in the air - your choice! I've opted for a Pothos plant, one of those hard-to-kill plants that has hardly any requests. It can grow in a bright place as well as in shady corners, it thrives in dry soil as well as in water - simply put, it is perfect if you want some growing greens without being stressed about plant care. Now if you feel ready for a Pothos plant, join the giveaway and with a bit of luck you'll call this cool Tina Frey Designs hanging planter your very own.

To win one Tina Frey Designs hanging square vessel 15 in white just leave a comment below and follow me on Instagram as well as Tina Frey Designs. For an extra chance visit JOELIX.com to win a large Tina Frey Designs bowl. The winner will be announced here on April 27th, 2015 and is open worldwide. Good luck and happy (green) week!

Giveaway: Turning Tray By Finn Juhl

Denmark is one of the most exciting countries when it comes to design. It has one of the richest design legacy with names that not only ring a bell but all bells of all kind of domes. One of the iconic names from Danish design is Finn Juhl, an architect with a vision for elegance and craftsmanship in the mid-century period of the 1940s and 1950s.

Finn Juhl's designs have strongly influenced the country's architects and designers, especially his use of bold sculptural forms and refined detailing. Juhl once said: 'One cannot create happiness with beautiful objects, but can spoil a lot of happiness with bad ones.' And since this is the Happy Interior Blog where I am overly concerned about your happiness at home, I will try not to ruin your happiness - instead I am pretty sure I will make you a tad happy when I tell you that I've partnered up with ARCHITECTMADE, a Danish webshop that focuses on a few, rare design objects designed by some of Denmark's greatest architects many years ago, to offer you a great giveaway.

Today I am inviting you to enjoy a cup of coffee with me on the beautiful Turning Tray designed by Finn Juhl in 1956. Today the original trays are on display at Finn Juhl's house in Denmark (now a museum). Architectmade has relaunched the Turning Trays after the exact original drawings by Finn Juhl with utmost attention to the details. The Turning Tray encompasses characteristic design features like curved teak frame and corner joints that are Finn Juhl trademarks and they are dual-sided with different colours. The new trays also come with a laser engraved signature from Finn Juhl.

Do you want such a Turning Tray from Finn Juhl for your home too? Excellent! All you have to do is go and pick your colour of choice HERE and tell me which one you'd like in the comments under this blog post. The giveaway will be running until coming Friday, April 17th 2015 and is open worldwide. Good luck!

Go Green With IKEA!

Today I am very excited to announce a fantastic new collaboration between the Urban Jungle Bloggers and IKEA Germany! Judith and I have teamed up with the German IKEA team for their new outdoor campaign and we want to encourage you all to go green together with us and IKEA Germany. In order to inspire you, both Judith and I have styled a few pieces of the beautiful new outdoor collection in our homes.

What I love about the new outdoor collection of IKEA is its versatility - it is made for any kind of homes. Whether you live in a spacious house or a tiny apartment, whether you have a balcony, a rooftop terrace or just a windowsill - the new outdoor collection will give you plenty of ideas and opportunities to add green into your own home.

My personal favorite is the new self-watering planter SÖTCITRON from IKEA. I love the simple yet smart solution - in fact I shared this idea with you as part of an Urban Jungle Bloggers post quite a while ago, do you remember (see it HERE)? The planters are Scandi minimalistic, typical for IKEA and ideal for all kinds of interiors. They have a lower part to fill up with water and an upper planter with soil and the plant. Both parts are connected by a nylon string that slowly transports the water from the lower to the upper part. With this pot you can literally go on long holidays and your plants will stay happy and healthy!

But we do not want to only show you our ideas, we want to see your green ideas and therefore we have come up with a green Instagram styling challenge that is packed with amazing goodies from IKEA Germany that you can win. Feel inspired to go green?

GIVEAWAY DETAILS:
How do you use IKEA products at home, in your garden, on your balcony or windowsill? How do you create that green jungle feeling? Share a picture of any kind of IKEA product and a plant(s) on Instagram with the hashtag #IKEAgogreen (for international participants) and/or #IKEAmachgrün (for German participants) as well as #urbanjunglebloggers. The first 50 pictures will win a nice little IKEA prize. From all entries, Judith and I will choose 3 favorites that will win a very special IKEA surprise package. Next week we will reveal what's in the surprise package on the Urban Jungle Bloggers website. You have until April 5th, 2015, to post your picture(s) with the hashtags on Instagram. Go green!

Book Review & Giveaway: Bohemian Modern

It's Valentine's Day friends and because I love you all, my dear readers, I've organized a little Valentine's gift for one chose among you: the brand new interiors book 'Bohemian Modern' by interior designer Emily Henson. I adore boho interiors and this book was just perfect to satisfy my inspiration seeking eye and spark some boho modern ideas for my own home.

In her book 'Bohemian Modern', Emily Henson explores the elements that come together to create an eclectic and contemporary look - the showcased interiors brim with colours, patterns, textures. In the first part, Emily takes us through the details of a bohemian modern style - she explores the use of patterns and colours, textiles, contrast, plants (no need to mention that I love it), collections, styling.

The book's second part features great boho homes - and boho is not simply boho. Those homes are retro bohemian, urban bohemian, rustic, handmade, bright barns, bohemian grandeur or technicolor homes - the range is big and proofs that boho is not only for hippie hipsters.

I love to believe that my own home is a little bit urban bohemian. It has a toned down colour range but holds lots of plants, vintage ceramics, decor items from my travels - in a nutshell: lots of personality. And after I've finished the book I felt like everyone should be a little bit boho.

Join the giveaway!
If you want to be inspired and add a bit more of boho style to your home, win one copy of the book by leaving a comment under this blogpost until Saturday, February 21st. The giveaway is open worldwide and a winner will be drawn randomly. Good luck & happy Valentine's Day!

Giveaway: Win One Urban Jungles Terrarium

We Urban Jungle Bloggers love plants and planters. We love our plants in pots, in crates, in hanging planters and in terrariums. And when an Urban Jungle Blogger meets a brand named Urban Jungles - it is a match made in plant heaven! And to make this heaven like feeling perfect, I am inviting you all, my dear readers, to rejoice in plant love because you can win one of the Urban Jungles terrariums for your home!

Urban Jungles is a Dutch brand specialized in plant terrariums with a small range of beautiful examples in the typical geometrical design. These little beauties are perfect for any plant lover - they make a cool urban appearance in any corner of your home.

I've filled my terrarium with dry, sandy soil and planted just a few little succulent babies I had in other pots. I added some of my rock crystals for good (plant) energy and left the main space for a lovely Tillandsia better known as airplant.

I experimented with the placement in my tiny home but I realized it makes a great appearance everywhere - on my sideboard in the bedroom where I created a little vignette, on my windowsill accompanied by the other plant siblings, on piles of books in my living room as a little visual highlight.

If you feel like your home is ready to host an Urban Jungles terrarium, here's the easy way to join the giveaway and win one terrarium of your choice. All you have to do is the following:

1. Leave a comment under this blogpost stating which terrarium model you want to win. Choose your favorite model in the webshop of Urban Jungles.

2. You will find my Urban Jungles terrarium on my Instagram account too. Follow me on Instagram and leave a comment under the image to double your chance!

3. Hop over to my friend Judith's blog who is giving away one terrarium too and leave a comment there to triple your chances!

The giveaway is open worldwide and closes on Sunday, February 15th, midnight CET. Good luck!

From Place To Space: 25hours Hotel Zurich West + Pinterest Giveaway

Is there a better way to start a new week than with a good dose of interior design inspiration? Let me tackle the task by sharing a few shots from my stay at the cool design hotel 25hours Hotel Zurich West in Zurich, Switzerland, last week. I was lucky enough to be invited by Zurich Tourism and the hotel to spend a weekend in the Swiss city and discover its design scene. Staying at the 25hours Hotel was the best starting point for a design filled weekend. I will share more design inspiration from Zurich next Monday, stay tuned!

The German hotel chain 25hours Hotels is one of my favorites already. I was staying at their hotels in Hamburg and Berlin in Germany and this was my first visit to their house in Zurich, Switzerland. Every city features a different design approach as they are always designed by different, mostly local designers. The 25hours Hotel Zurich West was designed by the Swiss-Argentinian designer Alfredo Häberli and reflects aspects of Zurich as a city with reference to classic ideas like banking (little coins inset in the flooring, rooms named after precious metals etc.) but also to its landscape (the lakes and boats) and food scene (chocolates, macarons and more).

What I like most about the 25hours Hotels is their cheeky, not-too-serious attitude that makes a stay there super relaxed and cool. No pretentious behaviors, no uptight manners, everything is easy-going, creative and cool. This atmosphere is translated into the colourful design of the hotel and lots of indoor plants creating a real Urban Jungle Bloggers vibe (of course I liked that a lot!!). The hotel also offers the great Neni restaurant with the delicious Middle Eastern infused cuisine by chef Haya Molcho. A kitchen club for cookery courses, a sauna with a view over Zurich rooftops, a colourful living room area and a design kiosk for last minute shopping round-up the offer of this urban hotel for design lovers.

Usually I would sum up my blog post by saying: If you plan a weekend in Zurich anytime soon, make sure you pick this hotel as your basis. But today I will make my conclusion even more enticing: You can win one free night for 2 persons including breakfast in the 25hours Hotel Zurich West by repinning THIS IMAGE on Pinterest. The giveaway will be running until December 8, 2014, midnight CET. One winner will be picked randomly. Join in this fabulous & first Pinterest giveaway on my blog!

Happy new week, friends!
