The Poster Club x Silke Bonde

Sometimes there is this feeling when you see something and you say: match made in heaven! Well here we go with one of those examples, maybe in this case it's a match made in poster heaven. Denmark based The Poster Club has launched two new posters created by the fantastic Copenhagen based artist Silke Bonde.

The two watercolour art prints called 'Cove' and 'Leaf me' are exclusively made for The Poster Club and come in a limited edition of 300 signed prints. So, if you want one of these two beauties you better hurry up and go to The Poster Club and secure yourself one signed art print.

Silke Bonde's work is wonderfully light and airy - her art seems as elusive as a fresh breeze and as invigorating as cold waters. And on top of it all, it just looks amazing. Having said this, my heart goes out to the art print 'Cove'. What about you?

There is one important fact that I love about interior blogs, Pinterest and Instagram: The abundance of real, lived in interiors shared with the world. Those interiors with character and imperfections remind us that living beautifully does not mean living in a staged surrounding.

For me, the most beautiful home is one that reflects its owner or dweller. Be it eclectic collections of vintage ceramics, plants, embroidery, art books, portraits, music instruments or anything else - these homes tell stories and can be read like a good book.

I love homes of well-traveled folks. People bring back details from their journeys and decorate their homes - and I do not refer to tacky souvenir pieces bought in a cheap (or worse over-priced) tourist shop. I refer to those unexpected pieces found along the way: in a local boutique, on a flea market, gifts from hosts and friends abroad, pieces found in the nature. Bring those pieces back home and tell your visitors about them!

I love homes that exude an easy-going, imperfect atmosphere. I love places where there's a random blanket left unmade, cushions squeezed into a corner, a forgotten bunch of wilted flowers, a few crooked frames - sometimes this oh so real imperfection seems to be hard to achieve for people referred to as perfectionist. I myself tend to be that way. But then I remind myself that life is not perfect either. So why bother with the home? Don't you agree?

Interior Design Algebra: Pattern + Colour + Plant

Algebra is not as boring as it seems. It just depends on what kind of arithmetic items you choose. In my case I like to add, substract, multiply or divide with interior design and decoration elements. Today's equation is a very simple yet effective one: Add one unit of patterns to a nice unit of colour and add another item from the plant section and the result will be visual splendor.

Design Apartment To Rent In Germany

In Germany's east there is a city called Weimar. I have never been there. But for those among you interested in European history this might be a name you've heard of. Or for those among you interested in literature - you might remember something with Goethe and Weimar. But today I don't want to talk about history or literature here. I will talk about interior design in Weimar. To be more precise: About a fab design apartment to rent in Weimar. Actually they have two of them, but today I want to show you the latest addition.

When I saw the pics for the first time my instant feeling was: I like this! The apartment looks airy, spacious, modern, light-flooded, with a strong Scandinavian vibe and vibrant colour splashes. In a nutshell: my kind of interior. But there is more to this apartment than just a lovely interior concept: The apartment is equipped with design classics (evident on the first glance, right?) and designs from the local Bauhaus University of Weimar. Thus, this is not only a stylish holiday home but also a great example of how to exhibit local, young design.

To be frank, I have not planned any trip to Weimar so far. However, I feel like I have to overthink my planning as this apartment seems to be very attractive and inviting. And after all, I could also brush up my history and literature skills a bit. Even though the booking website is called 'Hier war Goethe nie' (literally: Goethe was never here) I think I could bring a long one of his books. Design, history, literature - sounds all well worth a trip to Weimar.

Why This Room Caught My Eye

I almost feel like I have to apologize for picking yet another bedroom shot for today's blog series (you remember last week's fab bedroom), but when my friend Dabito of Old Brand New styles and photographs an interior you can most certainly assume it catches my eye big time. And yes, it was exactly what happened when I saw his latest post - and here it is so that you know what I am swooning about:

• Art Collection: Art always catches my eye. Especially when it is a quirky and unique collection. Here an abstract painting meets a nude meets a natural motive. Instant eye-catcher!
• Yellow Desk Lamp: Yellow as a colour is the most effective when used as a highlight, as a colour to pop. Just like in this case. The desk lamp with its bright yellow cubic lampshade caught my eye immediately. And secretly I am happy because I have a very similar vintage desk lamp at home.
• Indigo Throw: One of my favorite hues that not only speaks a visual story but has lots of history to tell. In fact, I am currently reading a book called 'Indigo - Egyptian Mummies to Blue Jeans' which tells the story of this fantastic natural hue.

Book Review: The New Book Of 'So Leb Ich'

'So leb ich' is a wonderful statement. It is resolute, sound and individual. It literally means 'That's how I live'. But 'So leb ich' is not only the title of the new book, it is actually the name of a very successful German interiors community. In fact it is the largest interiors community in the German speaking parts of Europe. Founded back in 2007 by interior designer Nicole Maalouf this community has attracted thousands of interior fans to share pictures of their homes and inspire each other. And right now the second book of the community has been launched with the full title: 'Das neue SoLebIch-Buch für ein schönes Zuhause' (the new SoLebIch-book for a beautiful home). And it is packed with beautiful inspiration.

Over 190 pages burst with 245 photographies of numerous homes beautifully styled and decorated by its dwellers. The book's charm lies in the magic of such interior communities - they showcase authentic homes, styled, decorated and photographed by mere mortals - no glossy finishings, no sophisticated dashes of this and that, no big photo editing. 

The book is structured into rooms - the reader is being welcomed through the hallway, passes the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, enters the home office, the bedroom and finally the nursery.  Each chapter is opened by an enticing illustrations by Larissa Bertonasco. Moreover, every picture is described, the participating community members are being quoted throughout the book and the content is enriched with additional trend descriptions, design classics information and DIY tips - including hints that more background information is available online on www.SoLebIch.de.

I've been going through the book over and over again and I really must admit that I love it. I adore the authenticity and personality of every photograph, I love the book's layout, its touch and feel. On one hand, it is informative and helpful, on the other hand it is as inspiring and beautiful as a coffee table book. Book Review: Gypset Travel

Hello there my friends! I am back after a whirlwind of travels - from Paris to the Provence, the French Riviera, back to Paris, then Munich and then Berlin. Phew, what an itinerary! Well you can imagine that it was beyond beautiful and inspiring (more about my trips soon on the blog). I took my recent travels as a good reason to present you a book I've recently bought upon recommendation by my friend and fellow blogger Olivia. 'Gypset Travel' appealed to me by its title alone as I consider myself a savvy traveler.

'Gypset Travel' is a travel diary by New York based journalist Julia Chaplin that delves into the glamorous bohemian world of artists, designers, and bons vivants through intimate photography and personal anecdotes. It takes us on an inspiring voyage to little-known enclaves around the globe and mixes fashion, interiors and travels into a magical concoction of a bohemian lifestyle.

'Gypset' is a term defined by the author Julia Chaplin as an unconventional, bohemian approach to life. It is characterized by a fashionable exoticism and a down-to-earth ease. It thus combines the wiles  of a gypsy with the sophistication of the jet set. 

So whether you're a boho traveler, a gypsy inside or a style savvy jet setter, this book will take you on an inspiring trip to enchanting places by highlighting the beauties on the go and gathering inspiration for your home. 

As you can see on my pics I dove into the book over a freshly brewed cup of coffee and got myself taken away to new and unseen places. And after my last sip of coffee the lingering taste confirmed - I am a little 'gypset' traveler myself.

Happily Ever After: Curio Magazine

Interiors, people, life, style - doesn't this sound just perfect for a relaxed afternoon on the sofa? I think it does and the British e-mag Curio Magazine offers it all. I must admit, until recently I didn't know the magazine. A few days ago the second issue was launched and I was absolutely enchanted by it. Interesting stores, great portraits, beautiful photography - the ingredients of any fabulous magazine. 

What attracted my immediate interest was the cover - it features the creative work of Serbian designer Ana Kras whom I featured last year on my blog HERE. The interview with the US based designer is one of my personal highlights as well as the Bodie and Fou feature. And there is plenty more of interior inspiration and swoon worthy photography.

So, grab your favorite cup with freshly brewed coffee or invigorating tea, get your tablet or notebook, and cocoon on your sofa or bed with the latest issue of Curio magazine.
