Happy Interior Blog Recommends: Frjor

If you think I made a mistake in the headline, no worries, the cryptic name 'frjor' is correct! It's the name of a new design label from Germany by Anna Becker that has launched just now a first range of porcelain bowls in black and white patterns. And since I love to feature young designers and artists in my Wednesday column, here we go with a fresh vision from Germany.

Anna's designs are pretty playful yet cool - the black and white patterns recall Scandinavian coolness and the almost floral shapes make me think of classics from Marimekko. But what I really loved about this label is the fun, unexpected presentation of the bowl. Turned around they serve as candleholders and stacked they looks like vases. As an Urban Jungle Blogger I could also see them lined up with plants on a windowsill. But then again that's me.

In our short conversation the designer told me that she is launching her label with a first set of porcelain bowls. Reading between the lines this means that we can expect more interesting designs from 'frjor'. I'll keep an eye on it. And maybe you should too.

5 Happy Inspirations: New Essentials!

This week I am inspired by the airiness of minimalistic homes, the timelessness of natural materials, the quality of good design. I've browsed the net for five products that encompass those inspirations and here is a little selection of what I've come up with. Looking at them grouped together they made me think of some sort of 'new essentials' for a happy home. You know, those things that seem so unpretentious cause they feel essential yet they are so precious and beautiful. Oh, and that pendant lamp has gone way up on my wish list as of now!

Disney Happiness For The Home

Here in Munich, I enjoy a great advantage. I live downtown and there are many interior decoration and homeware stores just around the corner. One of them is Butlers, a German home & interior store, that has spread its wings to the UK and other countries recently. Truth be told, it keeps distracting me whenever I am on the way home after work - I always have to take a little tour just to grasp some inspiration from their lovely displays and table settings.  

When I heard that they are launching a new Disney collection for the home, I was all ears. The Disney characters have been the heroes of my childhood so I was imagining a renewed friendship on plates, mugs, totes. So here is just a little sneak peek of the upcoming collection that will be available from August 27 in stores and online, including kitchenware, home accessories and gift goods.

Moreover, Butlers is organising a great in-store event with a Disney illustrator in Germany, Austria and the UK. I will attend the Munich event and secure my own, bespoke Disney illustration. If you fancy one too, make sure to check it out in these cities: Cologne (August 28), Munich (August 30), Vienna (August 31), Berlin (September 3), Hamburg (September 5), London/Notting Hill Gate (September 6).

Lovin' Designer Agneta Livijn

You might have seen on my post yesterday that I stocked up on new, beautiful handmade cups. They are the sublime work of Swedish designer Agneta Livijn. After being back from Stockholm, I took the opportunity to look up the work of Agneta Livijn online and loved her different collections so much that I've decided to share it here with you. The trademark of her work are the unique handmade shapes of her products that make every single piece a unique gem. 

Agneta Livijn provides a complete design concept for the kitchen - her collection stretches from hand-produced café latte cups with saucers, plates, bowls, mugs and kitchen textiles. The line of exclusive stoneware is designed in Sweden with production in Italy and Portugal. She not only designs and produces for her own brand Agneta Livijn AB but has also successfully worked for international superstar brands such as Ikea, Habitat, or Marks & Spencer. 

The designer launched its brand Agneta Livijn back in 1995 in Stockholm. Well, isn't this a brilliant discovery of my shopping roaming in Stockholm? Do you like her happy collection?
