Why This Room Caught My Eye

Today's room candy is apparently a little corner of a nursery - however, I wouldn't mind myself to sleep in this cosy nook or read a book. After all, we all have our inner child somewhere hidden deep inside, right? But what makes this room so exceptional or better said, why did I catch my eye in the sea of beautiful interiors in the world wide web? Well, I think it's these three factors that made me pick this nursery:

• Colourful String Lights: Yes, I have a soft spot for string lights. The grown-up version are those simple, black strings with white bulbs as seen at Merci for instance. But these colorful string lights are a perfect design detail for a happy nursery. Your kid will love it. So will your inner kid.
• Pattern Mix: My eye is pleased with the vibrant pattern mix in this little nook. The various Marimekko cushion covers, the Harlequin wallpaper by Ferm Living, the paneled ceiling - it is cheerful, without rules, just plain visual pleasure for kids!
• Bed Nook: As a kid I had a similar bed nook. Truth be told, I have a pretty bed nook in my Munich apartment too as I have pitched roofs just above my bed. It is that additional feeling of cosiness and a safe haven for a good night's sleep created by such nooks. It is dreamy and makes me think of reading Peter Pan with my flashlight and peeking out to the star lit sky at night. Dreamy, I said it!

5 Happy Inspirations: Baby Shower For Madame Love

Most of you know that I have never really featured anything for kids, nurseries and similar on my blog. Basically, because I am not in that phase of my life and I think there are many talented bloggers focusing on kids and nursery designs out there already. But when I heard of the secret blogger baby shower for my pregnant friend Elodie of Madame Love (her surname is really LOVE - how cool is that?!), I was all set and ready to come up with a few kiddo ideas.

I've compiled a few goodies for the little flower girl knowing that Elodie loves Liberty and its designs and that both, Elodie and her husband are not at all the 'pink is for girls' kind of parents. So my '5 Happy Inspirations' are rather playful and gender-neutral (apart from the cute flowery dress from Liberty's) and I think these elements would definitely contribute to a cute yet stylish nursery. Ok, I also admit that I know that Elodie is thinking of blue and grey for the nursery as main colours. 

I hope Elodie will love these picks and I can't wait to make the acquaintance of the little flower girl soon. Happy baby showering:-)

Home Tour: Style + Kids At Home

I don't know how many of you are already parents, but having small kids around is certainly a beautiful and joyous feeling and experience. I am a happy uncle of two little nieces and two little nephews, and every time they are around I have a real kiddo blast. However, I must prepare. Breakables and beloved memorabilia have to be lifted to 'higher grounds' and the place needs to be 'kid safe'. 

Sometimes it looks as though, once kids are moving in, you have to let go of your desire for styling, home decoration or expensive design furniture for your interiors. This little Scandinavian home proves that wrong. Style and kids can be at home, simultaneously! Truth be told, it won't be always neat and tidy, but life is a mess, well, at least sometimes. The magic seems to be in a somewhat more playful approach to design and interior styling. Another big plus is to keep enough free space for the little ones to have enough room to play and feel free. And yes, remember the one with breakables and beloved memorabilia. After all, nice floating shelves are pretty stylish, too. Do you handle kids and interior design simultaneously?
