How Happy Is Your Bathroom?

There is one interesting fact about bathrooms: It is one of the most important rooms in our home (unless you are not very fond of personal hygiene) and it's quite often the least considered for interior styling and decoration projects (the exception proves the rule). So I wondered: How happy is your bathroom?

But let me be honest with you first: My bathroom is not very happy because of one big issue - it is tiny and without a window. Hence no natural light. Hence me not happy. Hence no pictures of it. Anyways, I try to add a dash of happiness by injecting some colours in it. Currently the dominant colours in my bathroom are various shades of blue, turquoise, white, yellow. I always thought I just need a zesty pop of orange to sort of meet my blog's bunting colours. And sometimes people seem to read my mind.

Earlier this year I met the folks of one of the world's leading premium brands for bathroom fittings, Grohe, at the imm design fair in Cologne. When they approached me a few weeks ago and asked whether I'd like to convince myself of their great bathroom shower heads, I had two thoughts in mind: First, my old shower head is totally blocked with limescale. Second, I know a very pretty orange shower head by Grohe. A few days later I added a bit more of happiness to my bathroom as well as the desired pop of orange. Hello Rainshower Icon!

For the past six years I've lived a poor shower life with cheap shower heads. When I showered the very first time with the Rainshower Icon it was like revelation! I felt like under one of those amazing showers you find in good hotels and couldn't believe this was all the time just out there but I'd never paid due attention to the fittings for my bathroom. Well, lesson learned! It is not only an incredibly good shower experience, it also looks oh so happy and cool! What's not to love about it?

How do you like my new happy shower head?

The shower head was kindly sponsored by Grohe. Thank you!

  4. I love so many of those bathroom photos! And I agree with you, nothing worse than a bathroom with poor light. But more than that, I want to have a shower that relaxes me. This Grohe rainshower head would probably do the trick!

  5. Gorgeous shower head! I agree with you, no window - no happy bathroom. But if I had some built in shelves like on the 1st pic I would be soom much happier ;)

  7. A very well put thought on how happy our bathrooms are, and how often the most neglected. My broken shower has crying for a replacement for months now. Your buy has encouraged me to not procrastinate anymore.
I love the non-uniformity of the bathrooms above - especially the black and white tiled one!

  8. Hey Igor, very nice product - I am dreaming about a rainshower for my bathroom, too, for the near future! :-)

I admit, the bathroom is not declared important enough...we are also trying to give it a bit more atmosphere. On one hand with a little DIY like the old ladder and on the other hand I am working on installing one ot two of these very nice IKEA furniture. Instead of the not optimal open shelf we have at the moment. ;-)

    Happy Greetings,
    Jasmin

  9. I really love your new shower head and it isn't even that expensive (coming from Grohe). We had an new bathroom installed last november and I love it to bits, but I like this shower head better than the one we have. It is on my wish list now ;-)

  10. I'm in the same bathroom situation (tiny, no window) but mine needs a total renovation (the previous owners of my condo botched it.....it makes me sad every time I get in there). I would love a black and white checkered floor (LOVE). And that shower head looks really cool.

  15. For me a happy bathroom means a clean and shiny bathroom, well designed and having plants in it. I loved your suggestion and it is certainly something which would make me happy if I had that bathroom.

  16. First I have to admit I have never paid much attention myself the the shower or other fixtures currently or formally adorning my bathrooms. That is until recently married and my wife surprised me with a new shower head of our own in the master shower. I have to tell you- it changes your whole bathroom experience! Though it was not this shower head from Grohe it is an absolute happy addition to our bathroom. She opted for a micro-bubble shower head. Do some googling, they are awesome! I can not imagine my shower without our Rejuvenator shower head, my bathroom and I are so so much more happy!

  17. Thanks for the inspiration! My bathroom is way too small to look and some bathtub refinishing work pending but anything like those, but there are definitely some good ideas to take away and possibly implement.
