Coveting Ceramics: Artist Maryam Riazi

There is one thing that always draws my attention when I look at interiors - personal collections, little eclectic groupings of things that seem to be dear to the owner. They always tell a little story about the dweller's character, what he or she likes, what kind of personality they have. I too am a collector - I collect ceramics. I mean I am not collecting on an elaborate art level, but I always fall for handmade pieces and vintage finds. My latest discovery is the work of the L.A. based artist Maryam Riazi. One word: swoon. Two more words: want all!

Maryam Riazi is a fantastic, multi-talented artist of Persian origin. In her studio in Los Angeles she creates amazing pieces in clay, metal and thread. While all of her work has an incredibly beautiful appeal and a somewhat archaic appearance, it is her work in clay that fascinates me most. Her pots, bowls, planters, mugs seem to be almost archaeological gems - you can see their earthy origins, you can see the artist's hand that shaped them. Each piece is unique and would definitely enrich a collection.

My absolute favorites are her planters - that planter on a tripod in the first picture is just a dream piece and I will put it on my wish list with destination Santa Claus. Let's see and hope.

Happy weekend everybody!

Happy Interior Blog Recommends...

Hump days are shopping days! Well, at least they're shopping inspiration days here on Happy Interior Blog. I've said it a few times, I am the first victim of my product recommendations for happy homes as I tend to buy some of them myself. Just like with this week's recommendations - yet again, I've bought one of the pieces you can see here. I'll let you guess what I got for myself.

This week's product recommendations are inspired by a modern-bohemian style with touches of ethnic vibes, contemporary styles and Scandinavian inspiration. I hope you'll like today's suggestions and maybe you will find something your your happy home, too:

1. 'Sasha' art print by Sofia Bonati via Redbubble
2. Beep Table Lamp by Conran via JCPenny
3. Wooden candleholders by Bloomingville via Stilherz
4. Handmade ceramics by Robert Blue via Mociun
5. Kilim bed cushions by Barrington Blue

Enjoy my friends!
