Last year I discovered the beautiful work of Danish artist Pernille Folcarelli and blogged about her. Now I am happy to show you the new 2014 collection of botanical art by Pernille Folcarelli. Her work is beautiful and captivating by immortalizing nature and making it a long lasting piece of art for your home.
Her collection comprises posters, postcards and unique hand prints from her own workshop. The basis of her work is the nordic nature and its beautiful shapes and colours. Mostly you will find prints of leaves, twigs, feathers in her new collection. I like how her posters bring an instant nordic vibe into a room and they do their magic either as solo art pieces or grouped together as a gallery wall.

It is no secret that I am an enthusiastic urban jungle blogger and that I love greens in homes. On the other hand, I absolutely understand and accept that plants in homes is not everybody's cup of tea. But what about bringing the botanicals on your walls? How about the eternal beauty of immortalized, delicate leafs, twigs or feathers as unique, handmade art prints? Sounds interesting? Then take a look at the sublime work of the Danish artist Pernille Møller Folcarelli.
Pernille has always been fascinated by the botanical universe of plants and trees. For her latest series of graphic prints she is using natural materials such as leafs, twigs and feathers collected directly from her garden in Denmark. She works with a graphic press in her studio and uses the natural materials directly in the printing process thus creating unique, handmade prints that reflect the individuality of every piece of nature immortalized in her work.
The colour palette of the botanical prints is predominately black and white with hues inspired by Nordic nature. To me, these prints look like a perfect detail to Scandinavian inspired interiors. My personal favorite is the prints with three fig leaves. All her prints are available through her website for purchase.

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you have noticed my Scandinavian adventures in Copenhagen as part of the 'Bloggers Universe' tour. I've always been a fan of Scandinavian design and interiors, but since my last trip I have thought and looked out for Scandinavian inspiration even more. Today I want to share a bright Scandinavian style home in Germany. Step in!
This absolutely stunning home is located in the German town of Wiesbaden, but it could easily be a home in Copenhagen, Stockholm or any other Scandinavian city for that matter. The dominance of white and wood perfectly sets the tone in this home. The entire interior design concept was created and executed by the German 'Studio Oink', a design studio run by two super creative minds, Lea Korzeczek and Matthias Hiller.
The depicted home is part of a typical German 'Altbau' building which means it is a historical building with certain architectural specifications that have to be respected. The owners contacted 'Studio Oink' and told them that they love the clear lines and inviting atmosphere of Scandinavian homes. This said, the designers started their endeavor by setting up the concept and then executing their ideas into reality.
The old flooring was removed and the original planks came into action, custom made furniture units were designed and produced, vintage elements like the old window frames were reinterpreted as a kitchen cupboard for the owner's extensive ceramics collection. Smart storage solutions were carefully planned in order to guarantee an airiness which is typical for Scandinavian homes. No hanging cupboards were used, in order to highlight the wood and its structure, no handles were attached to the furniture. Every little detail was carefully considered and the result is simply breathtaking.
