Last week I experienced two revelations at once. I received an invitation to a design pop-up store opening in Munich, and despite the 35 degrees Celsius on that day, I headed to the stated address after work with much perspiration (I am sorry but it's true!). Up to then, my notion of pop-up store was that they are mostly raw and edgy, urban to the bone and temporary in their existence. Revelation number one was the Munich is different. Even when it comes to pop-up stores. The address was the rather noble Ludwigpalais in the city center and so was the pop-up store - very noble and classy. No raw concrete walls, no dusty corners. Rather sleek surfaces and champagne flutes if you know what I mean.
The second revelation was that even high-end design can be presented in a pop-up store. Especially if that temporary stage is placed in a renown local design store like the Kröncke showroom in Munich and curated by a professional interior designer like Robert Stephan, founder of the online design platform edition20.
The pop-up store encompasses contemporary and mid-century design classics for aficionados who love timeless design and a dash of sophistication for their happy home. Big names such as Agape Casa, Gubi, Cherner Chair Company or William Haines are part of the sale exhibition and the entire setting was completed with the art work by British artist Jon Groom.
As you can see, it was a great evening full of amazing design and marked by posh guest, high temperatures and fun chats with some of my local blogger friends. So if you are in Munich or happen to come for a visit anytime soon, don't miss to pop into the pop-up store and indulge in fine design.

DeleteHello Igor!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great! But my favorites are those golden lights, so chic.

I had to read the pop-up store part twice when I saw the images. It is indeed classy. Looks more like the opening of a new design store.
ReplyDeleteWell done Munich!
PS. Loved the perspiration honesty ;-)
Hey mister. You are indeed lucky to have this type of thing in Munich. Can you send some to Belfast please ;-)
ReplyDeleteNow I have to say I love some of it & then dislike some of it. It's too styled for my personal liking and I'd happily have the concrete walls any day (no surprises there). The standout items for me are from Gubi. I especially love the Grossman Dresser (have you checked it in walnut - to die for) and the Bestlite table lamp in brass (salivating). Though what is that 'thing' on the dresser on the right? And as for the artwork...
Glad you had fun (more fun than those girls on the sofa) and thanks for sharing :-)
very nice! What a great pop up!! Loving the series of gold pendant, the mirror you took a picture of, that marble coffee table, and hello to that pair of tufted side chairs! GORGEOUS!
