Why This Room Caught My Eye

Traveling is not only good for my mind and soul, it is also good for my blog as I always bring back new inspiration. Last autumn I spent three weeks on the West Coast in the USA and in Canada. My San Francisco stay was very special (I blogged about it HERE and HERE), also because I was honored to be housesitting for one of my favorite bloggers and style icons, Victoria Smith of sfgirlbybay.com

While she was traveling in Europe, I was staying at her modern-bohemian garden house. Her home is an inexhaustible source of interior styling inspiration and even though Victoria has changed and restyled her home ever since, I wanted to share one shot of her living room with you today. Before I tell you what caught my eye in Victoria's living room, I would like to hint you to my first post on the new interior blog 'Roombeez' where I am a regular contributor - I am sharing some more shots of Victoria's home there.

So what caught my eye here?
  • Black Leather Sofa: Even though I am not a leather sofa fan in general, this one seems to be the one and only choice you can put in this setting. The fantastic black leather sofa is a sort of visual anchor in this room as it sets off itself with its black glossy surface and the button back.
  • Shelving Unit: The other furniture piece I've been craving ever since I stayed at Victoria's place is her wooden shelving unit. It was custom-made for her garden home and is a perfect solution for maximum storage while serving as a styling stage as well.
  • Patterned Rug: The patterned shag rug adds a great dose of pattern and texture to the living room and ties the black and neutral colour scheme perfectly together. Plus it is super soft to walk on it - trust me, I tested it!
Is Victoria's living room catching your eye too?

From Place To Space: Go West - San Francisco

This week is kicking off with great news. It is not about a past trip, but the announcement of my big holidays this year and it will be happening in just a few weeks! Mid September I am off to Paris and then on the plane westwards to the US and Canada! I will be doing a roadtrip in the Pacific Northwest discovering Seattle, Portland and Vancouver and then heading southwards to San Francisco. Hence, I will show you the places where I will be staying during my big American trip and today I want to show you one of the absolute highlights - my 'home' in San Francisco for a week.

In bustling San Francisco I will be staying in the best place ever an interior loving guy could wish for. I will be staying in the home of design blogger icon and my all-time favorite blogger Victoria Smith of sfgirlbybay. When she offered her home to me, I was beyond happy and - truth be told - a bit speechless. I have admired Victoria's style and sense for design ever since I've embarked the interior design blogger adventure.

Actually, I wanted to meet up with Victoria for a coffee in San Francisco, but she will be heading to Europe at the very same time as a keynote speaker for Meet the Blogger in Amsterdam. But I am pretty sure it will be like meeting her through her impeccable home. I love to 'meet' people through their personal homes and style. And this will be a more than pleasant rendez-vous in San Francisco.

I warn you, I will bring loads of pictures of Victoria's home back and share with you, but I am pretty sure you will enjoy it as much as I will. For now I am sharing her shots published on sfgirlbybay.com of her 'Modern Cottage'.

I can't wait to head off to my 'Go West' adventure and up to then I will share my next American 'homes' coming Monday. Stay tuned & happy week!

Ideas For A Happy Weekend

Here is another great effect of blogging! You travel the world. Truth be told, quite often it's a digital voyage but not less amazing. Visiting the US west coast is still on my travel wish list. And speaking of the west coast, San Francisco is on top of my itinerary. This week I had the immense pleasure to travel to San Francisco - twice! And yes, digitally.

I was more than honored to be invited by two of my favorite bloggers, Victoria of SF Girl By Bay and Erin of Apartment 34, to guest blog on their blogs. I was super excited and both blog posts were strongly influenced by the current change of seasons. I am totally getting into the autumn vibe so I was thinking of how this influences my taste in interior design and decoration. And in both cases I tried to visualize that very feeling. I hope I managed to convey that feeling. If you haven't seen the posts yet, check them out here: my guest post on SF Girl By Bay and on Apartment 34.

Happy weekend!
