Art Crush: Urban Jungle Vibe For Your Walls

Will it come as a sort of revelation if I say I love plants? Ha, I can see you all rolling your eyes! As the founder of Urban Jungle Bloggers it comes as no surprise that anything plant related catches my attention - even art! Well, this seems to be the solution for those among you who are too reluctant when it comes to plants - maybe you want to add that urban jungle vibe onto your wall instead? I promise: No watering, no caring necessary! And it won't die away!

This wonderful art print with banana leaves is the work of Hungarian artist Ildiko Olah for her label Oldi Art. Her work is inspired by naturalism and the beauty surrounding us as well as by her two kids with a dash of playfulness in her works. I really like her animal drawings and the plant inspired works such as the shown banana leaves and another piece showing a cactus. Make sure you check out her portfolio here.

And if you like what you see, you might want to hop over to the Facebook page of Oldi Art and join her giveaway - if you are lucky enough you will win one of her art pieces. Now I have to leave you. I have to water my real plants and afterwards I'll relax on my bed with a book and enjoy the sight of the calming banana leaves. And if I fall asleep, I might wake up in a tropical resort. Who knows. It's the magic of art!

Urban Jungle Bloggers: Green Social Inspiration

Welcome to the first 'Urban Jungle Bloggers' post in 2014! I am pretty happy that we are starting into a year that promises to be greener than the previous years when it comes to interior styling and design. At least if we judge according to the current design trade shows that showcase a plethora of green ideas for interiors.

We are starting this year with the topic 'green social inspiration' in order to share with you our favorite green bloggers, pinners, Instagram accounts etc. So here comes the list of my green social inspiration:

1. Justina Blakeney: Justina is a fabulous stylist and blogger from L.A. A short glance at her blog reveals her eclectic personality that brims with colours, patterns and indoor plants. Even though I grew up in a family with lots of indoor plants (my mum was and still is a great friend of indoor plants), it was Justina who triggered a new passion for plants in interiors in me. She not only writes an inspiring blog but is also one of the most influential pinners - check out her Pinterest account as well as her Instagram account.

2. Urban Gardens: Two years ago I attended a blog tour in London and I was lucky enough to meet Robin Horton, the creative mastermind behind Urban Gardens. Urban Gardens is a thought-leading and strongly dedicated blog regarding green spaces in urban areas. Moreover, Urban Gardens is my daily green fix on Facebook as they have a very engaging community.

3. The Sill: The Sill is a great online platform that inspires people to bring more of the outdoors in. The Sill was founded by Eliza Blank who recently shared great tips for beginners who want to bring more green into their homes - read her interview for the Kinfolk magazine HERE. Moreover, 'The Sill' features an online shop for plants, offers various design services and shares great background information on plants and plant care. Oh and do follow their fab Instagram account HERE.

4. Atelier Stella: Sometimes it is not a plant directly that inspires me for more greens in my home. Sometimes it is a fabulously designed, handmade plant pot that makes me smile and makes me want to buy a new little plant for it. This enchanting power belongs to the utterly adorable designs of London based ceramicist Stella Baggott of Atelier Stella. Check out her Tumblr for happy plant pot and vases and be warned - the sales in her shop are sold out within minutes after launch. So you better subscribe her newsletter to be just in time for a lucky catch - I managed to get four plant pots so far!

If you are still not convinced that you will be able to take care for a plant in your home, then think twice and read this cool article recently published by Apartment Therapy and entitled '5 hard to kill houseplants'. And if you have darker spots at home and you are looking for plants that will survive with limited light, check out THIS helpful article. If you opt for one of those, you will definitely succeed in starting your very own 'Urban Jungle Bloggers' career!

Urban Jungle Bloggers is a monthly series by 2 bloggers: Igor (Happy Interior Blog) and Judith (JOELIX.com). Every month we share ideas to create an urban jungle through styling ideas, DIYs and green tips & tricks.
