The first week in March I want to kick off with an inspiring creative space in the Serbian capital Belgrade. Some of you already know that I have Serbian roots but I thought it would be also interesting to share this place as few people know Belgrade and its creative spaces.
The Mikser House has been born out of the Mikser platform, a multidisciplinary and multicultural platform that aims to affirm the region's cultural industry and organize the largest festival of creativity and design in the Balkans region. The recently opened Mikser House is basically a multifunctional space for educational, cultural, entertaining and commercial activities in a converted industrial faculty. It is located in the up and coming creative Savamala district of Belgrade which booms with galleries, bars, creative spaces.
The super inspiring Mikser House not only provides open spaces for all kind of creative activities, but also hosts a fab Balkan Design Store and a restaurant, the so-called Mikser Kantina. Later this spring, from May 28th to June 2nd, the Mikser Festival will transform the entire city of Belgrade into the creative center of the Balkans with lots of local design and design talents. Probably a good idea for little city weekend escape!
If you ever consider a weekend city escape to Belgrade, you might want to check my blog post about the Serbian capital with my personal discoveries HERE. And of course you can always drop me an email with questions. I am here to help!
I hope you feel inspired and invigorated to kick off the new week! I wish you a creative one!

The space looks fabulous. Will you be able to attend the festival in Belgrade and share with us?
ReplyDeleteI would actually love to go, Lisa. I am just not sure I can fit in yet another trip in May. But I will see. If I go, I will share it here of course. You know me:-)
DeleteOh Igor, that looks really cool! How lovely to make us travel to Belgrade today. So interesting to see what's happening there.

Happy you liked it Elodie - especially since I know you've already been to Belgrade:-)
DeleteWow! Brilliant! I completely love how this space looks. My kinda place :-) And even better is the fact that many people would never believe such a place would exist in Serbia. So so cool! Thanks Igor.
ReplyDeleteMy point exactly which is why I wanted to share it with my readers. When people think of the Balkans they hardly think of design. But there's a thriving scene of young creatives with many new ideas and perspectives.
DeleteIgor, What a great place. Yes, I had no idea places like this existed in Serbia- Makes me want to jump on a plane now. Thanks for sharing.

p.s I love those plywood "houses"
I think people should embark on new adventures in what is a more "unknown" corner of Europe. I know there are many hidden gems to discover!
DeleteThis place is amazing! Welldone to the designers.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing it.
:-)
You're welcome, Sonia! Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteWow! How brilliant is that?
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing and you're right, no one thinks that Belgrade or Serbia or the Balkans have creativity... how sad.
Happy they are hosting a kind of Design Week. Will you visit and be our reporter?
I wish I had the time! I have to see as I'm already traveling in May. If not this year, definitely in 2015!
DeleteLieber Igor

ReplyDeleteHahaha ein Klassiker!! Darf in keiner serbischen (oder besser gesagt 'jugoslawischen') Küche fehlen!!
DeleteSuper post, Mixer really looks excellent, everytime we see it, it's always eye catching.
ReplyDeleteIt's really makes us sad, reading comments that people thinks we still live in junge here, with no design and stuff, so it's really good showing parts of our city on your blog. Thank you!
What a great space and place! I'm really digging the general vibe and I love all the details, right down to the food tray - so nicely branded :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! Xx.
