How afraid are we of being alone? Do we feel ashamed to have a walk alone? Do we need a book or our smartphone to have a solo lunch? Do we feel awkward for loving our quiet moments alone, cut off of the outer world? Sometimes I do feel all of this. And then again I remember that solitude - chosen solitude from time to time - is the best way to deal with yourself. To work on the big, eternal relationship - the one with yourself. I consciously choose moments of solitude in my home. And to fully enjoy these moments I must feel comfortable, I must feel cosy and at home. And then I realize that it's the little things at home that sometimes elicit a smile and the happy feeling of being all satisfied and confident about yourself. And about your home. Happy weekend, friends!

I love this post. Happy weekend Igor!
ReplyDeleteMany people don't know this about me but I'm the queen of 'solitude'. I LOVE my own company and I love being in my home 'alone'. Like you, I treasure the small things and often have my best moments when taking in the beauty and gratitude for living my life.... surrounded by the things that make me happy!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend Mr. Happy Interiors:)
I'm so with on this one. If I don't get my space and solitude regularly then I feel irritation building up. I need those moments all by myself.
ReplyDeleteHi, find your Blog. Love your Blog. A lot of inspirations.

ReplyDeleteWhen not playing mother, wife, work etc I do enjoy the time i spend with myself from time to time! Lovely blog do pop over to POWDER GREY when you can, love to hear your thoughts! New still to the blog world...
ReplyDeleteSo perfectly expressed - every word. Merci, Igor!
ReplyDeleteThat is so true! I often try to not be that person that when walking alone I text or need to be busy. I like being alone without "devices". This is really extreme but some towns are trying to ban walking while texting in NJ, crazy. Also, have fun learning your camera! I'm sure you'll take the best shots:)
ReplyDeleteYour post made me remember that difference between being lonely and being alone (and happy about it). I cherish those precious alone-moments when I can curl up with a good book, watch a movie or just ponder over a cup of coffee. Although I absolutely adore my friends, that conscious solitude you mentioned is sometimes my most fulfilling and precious time of the day.
ReplyDeleteP.S. long live all morning grumps!
ReplyDeleteBy the way...where exactly is this?
ReplyDeletehttp://snapwidget.com/view/?id=220217286676399207_2184048 cause you can see THIS in the background in your pic! http://images.leblogdelamechante.fr/images/2011/03/coiffeur-paris.jpg :) Right?
Ha, well observed! The pic was taken in a street side café in Rue Montorgueil in Paris.

ReplyDeleteSo true Igor. Without "the little things" life would be less charming, less enjoyable. Thanks for reminding us to appreciate these little, yet important things and moments Xx.
