Imagine this: A sunny late afternoon in autumn. Crisp air. Mesmerizing colours. And a cup of mild 'white peony' tea. And not simply a cup. Rather a little piece of tableware art made of fine bone china. The delicate feeling while touching it, the distinctive sound when the cup meets the saucer, the filigree floral design. A unique blend of Finnish design and traditional Chinese craftsmanship, that is Elinno Design tableware.
Elinno Design was established in 2008 in Finland by two creative minds, Liang Liang and Anni Paunila. These two talented young women met for the first time during their studies in Finland and have been working together and individually on various projects. However, it wasn't until their roads crossed again, when the things really started rolling. And all this happened over a cup of tea. Ever since, Elinno Design stands for high quality and refined tableware. This year, both designers won the Finnish design prize MUOTO2011 for 'best tableware'. Elinno Design is available worldwide and was recently launched on the German market. Here in Germany, it is exclusively available at Munich based tableware expert 'Das Stilhaus' where I had a wonderful evening with the shop owner and her assistant amidst beautiful tableware.
The brand's philosophy is as beautiful as its products: They aim to design something that coming generations can be proud of, something that could be passed on from generation to generation. The tableware resembles its designers - it is a sophisticated mix of modern Scandinavian design with traditional Chinese porcelain craftsmanship. They draw inspiration from classic art and nature.
The collection encompasses three overarching themes named 'Blue & White', 'New & Classic' and 'Mix & Match' with various series like 'Evergreen Blues', 'New Willow' or - as seen on my pics - 'Love In the Air'. And using this beautiful tableware makes me feel like there's love in the air.
